| Decoration: | Excised from an illuminated parchment manuscript and pasted onto a2r, col. 1 (at the inner margin), is a nine-line initial “S” in light and dark purple with white tracery, which is set on a square ground of dull gold decorated with blue cornflowers; adjoining it and covering the top half of the inner margin is a piece of illuminated floral border - probably excised from the same manuscript - and a similar piece of illuminated floral border has been pasted onto the top margin. Both columns of text throughout are enclosed within triple crimson ink rules (doubled at the outer and upper margins); a few initials supplied in red; occasional paragraph marks, capital strokes and underlining in red; occasional guide letters in pencil in a 19th-century hand. |
