Binding: 16th-century blind-tooled calf over wooden boards; front and rear covers decorated with quadruple fillets to form two concentric rectangles; the inner rectangle is divided by quadruple fillets into four lozenge and eight triangular-shaped compartments, which are decorated with three lozenge-shaped Pegasus stamps of different designs; the outer rectangle is decorated at each corner with a small stamp of two concentric circles with four stars around their circumference; rebacked in the 19th century and given a red leather title label (original spine covering lost); remains of two brass clasps; square paper label pasted onto top spine compartment bearing the printed number “6”. Size: 311 x 209 mm.

Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations in a 16th-century hand in the early gatherings; first gathering signed “A” additionally in manuscript; 19th-century annotations on front pastedown “a folio 265” in blue crayon, “2004” in ink, “S121” in pencil; numbers “265” in blue crayon, “000/” in ink (scored through), together with an unread code on rear pastedown.
Decoration: On 2a1r a five-line initial “E” is supplied in red and embellished with violet pen-work which extends into the inner margin; a similarly decorated six-line initial “H” in blue is supplied on b1r; smaller initials throughout supplied in red or in red with reserved white; paragraph marks and capital strokes in red throughout.
Imperfections: Wanting the first blank leaf; wanting d1.8 (stubs showing for both leaves and the gaps noted in an early hand “deest vnu[m] folliu[m]” in lower margins of c8v and d7v.
