Project Mindset - Bitesize

Description

This 60-minute bitesize is aimed at helping colleagues, across all areas of the University, to develop an understanding of what it means to be a part of any project and what are real benefits of project management. This session covers an insight into what project is, what are common elements of a project as well as what are key roles and responsibilities when being in a project.

Participants will also have a chance to reflect on their own project experiences, share the learnings in groups, and develop their own new creative thinking about projects. The session will also aim at understanding common challenges and risks in project. The participants are not required to have any previous professional project experiences.

Session Approach

The session is delivered online using Mentimeter application. Participants will need access to a connected device with a web browser.

The first part is mostly presentation, small discussion with participants being asked to interact with each other. In the second part participants will be given an opportunity to collaborate in small discussion groups and work on a final project case study.

This session can be delivered online for up to 50 participants or face-to-face for up to 40 participants.

Takeaways

As well as the content covered, participants will be provided with a copy of the session materials and (anonymous) inputs which gives them:

  • a reminder of key roles and differences in a project
  • types of projects as well as various project methodologies, practices and approaches
  • tips for managing project effectively.
  • a breakdown of Project Management process
  • a set of suggestions, approaches, and strategies for creating an ideal project team

Bitesize courses are typically delivered online and for larger groups than our face-to-face or longer courses.  We may, on request, be able to offer these specifically for inclusion as part of team building activities such as away days.
