Leading an Effective Team

This workshop explores some of the fundamental skills, tools, and techniques which make for effective leadership of a team. We will look at how to understand teams, and the leader’s behaviours. You’ll examine different styles, preferences, and perspectives, and we’ll ask you to spend some time reflecting on your own style and behaviours, and the impact those can have on your team. You’ll practice putting team and leadership concepts into an action plan which will help you leave the session with practical tools and ways forward.

This course involves pre-course reading and/or work which you should be able to complete in around 30-60 minutes.

Target Audience:

This workshop is for any line managers who find themselves in the position of leading and managing teams who would benefit from exploring some effective strategies, approaches, and techniques.

During this workshop, there will be an opportunity to:

  • explore some factors and challenges associated with leading teams
  • discuss and understand why high performing teams and effective team working are important and how these can positively affect teams’ achievements
  • identify some typical characteristics, styles, and practices of managers within a high performing team
  • discuss and practice a range of strategies aimed at ensuring communication, engagement, and motivation are effective when leading teams
