Facilitation Skills

This one day practical workshop will develop your skills and approaches to confidently facilitate groups of different sizes and in different contexts (face to face).  You will explore a number of different facilitation tools and techniques, understand group dynamics and how to manage these, and importantly take away a plan for the next time you will be facilitating a session.

This course involves pre-course reading and/or work which you should be able to complete in around 30-40 minutes.

Target Audience:

This workshop may be of interest to anyone who facilitates in-person sessions with groups across a range of contexts, including but not limited to teams, focus groups, project teams, and short life working groups. This course is highly interactive and is designed to help participants be an effective, confident facilitator and furnish them with tools and techniques to deal with challenging participants, use engaging exercises, and understand some of the theory behind good in-person facilitation.

By the end of the session, you will:

  • understand facilitation and the role of the facilitator when working in an in-person environment
  • have developed different skills and techniques for face to face facilitation and for facilitating groups of different sizes and compositions
  • have explored ways to deal with challenging situations and participants in this context
  • have practiced the skills learned and get feedback to inform an action plan for future facilitation
