Records Retention Schedule

A records retention schedule is a tool that identifies and describes all records held by a particular group. The schedule dictates how long those records should be kept, and what to do with them if/when they are no longer needed by the University.

Retention rules are generally based on business need, legislative requirements, best practice guidance, or historical value of records. Because of these wide-ranging influences, the University does not have generic schedules for our organisational units (e.g. no schedule for all of the Schools).

More information on retention schedules, and examples of their format and look, can be found on our Records Retention Schedule Guidance page.
