Highlights from the CofC May social event

In May 2026, the Culture of Care (CofC) Committee hosted its latest informal social event at a local pub. Bringing together committee members, technical staff, researchers, and students, the relaxed evening provided a fantastic opportunity for the wider Glasgow research community to connect outside the laboratory setting.
Fostering a strong culture of care relies heavily on open communication and strong relationships, which is why we were delighted by the success of our recent social event in May. Held at a local pub near the campus, the evening offered a casual, low-pressure environment for colleagues to unwind and catch up over some drinks and games.
The event saw a great turnout, with the majority of the CofC committee members in attendance. Crucially, we were also joined by a wonderful mix of staff and students from outside the immediate committee.
These gatherings are a vital part of our initiative to break down institutional silos and remain accessible to everyone across our facilities. They offer a direct line for Glasgow staff and students to meet their committee representatives face-to-face, share their day-to-day experiences, or simply enjoy a drink and a chat with peers who understand the unique environment of research and animal care.
Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to such a positive, supportive evening.
