Glasgow Makes People: 575 years of student life explores the evolution of student experience since 1451. It looks at how the University and the city have influenced generations of students, not just as scholars, but as people.
By highlighting life beyond the classroom (clubs and societies, sports, entertainment, representation and wider student life) it offers a fresh perspective on what it means to be part of a university community with a 575-year history.
Journey from the University’s early days at Glasgow Cathedral, through the Old College on High Street and the move to Gilmorehill in 1870, to the diverse campuses of the present day.
Hear members of the 2026 student community reflect on the institution’s past, present and future, and add your own voice to the University Archive.
Glasgow Makes People will appeal to students, alumni and anyone interested in how the relationship between the University and the city has shaped the lives of generations.
Free and open to all.
