Foreign aid, a lifeline for millions of people, is in crisis. Budgets are falling rapidly and aid agencies are being dismantled. The Scottish Government is one of the few to have bucked this trend, recently announcing an increase to its aid budget. In a context of increasing financial uncertainty for many low-income countries, and the dire social impacts that brings, attention is turning to a future beyond aid.

Indranil Chakrabarti [Head of Policy and Strategic Outcomes, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office]

Joanna Keating [Head of International Development, Scottish Government]
