Generative AI is rapidly reshaping political communication. It enables political actors to persuade in ways that are cheap, fast, and scalable—producing personalised messages that may be false or misleading and fabricating visual “proof” of events that never happened. This talk examines the political toolbox—chatbots, deepfakes, microtargeting, and “AI slop”—and explains how these tools are used in practice.

This event is taking place in the Humanities Lecture Theatre inside the Gilbert Scott Building, which is the main building of the University of Glasgow.
