About Beth
Lauded by The Guardian for her “dark and focused” voice, “sensational coloratura” and “spectacular singing” and by The Times for her “fierce, indeed terrifying, cane-swishing” characterisations, Beth Taylor is one of today’s most electrifying young mezzo-sopranos.
In the 2023/24 season, Beth makes her role debut as Anna in Les Troyens with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, embarking on a tour that leads her to the Berlioz Festival La-Côte-Saint-André, the Salzburg Festival, the Berlin Festival and the BBC Proms.
She also is the contralto soloist of Mozart’s Requiem with Raphaël Pichon at the BBC Proms, Paris Philharmonie, Palau de la Music of Barcelona and Valencia, Konzerthaus Dortmund, in Versailles and Bordeaux; of Mahler’s Symphony No 2 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Edward Gardner, Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette with John Nelson at the Gulbenkian Lisbon, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with Proinnsías O’Duinn in Dublin, Bach’s B minor mass with Gabriel Feltz in Belgrade and with Raphaël Pichon in Aix-en-Provence, Versailles and the Thüringer Bachwochen Festival.
In her native Scotland, Beth appears in Bach’s St Matthew’s Passion and St John’s Passion in Edinburgh and Glasgow. With the London Handel Festival, she stars in Ariana in Creta. The mezzo-soprano also sings Sorceress in concert performances of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with Il pomo d’oro, also recording the work. She will return to the Glyndebourne Festival in Summer 2024, reprising her celebrated interpretation of Cornelia in Sir David Macvicar’s iconic staging of Giulio Cesare.
Beth is a proud graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Open University. She is the winner of the 2022 Elizabeth Connell Award, 3rd prize winner of the 2019 Wigmore Hall Competition and the winner of the 2018 Gianni Bergamo Classical Music Awards. She was a grand finalist in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, representing Scotland.
About Sasha
Classical guitarist Sasha Savaloni is the winner of two of the most prestigious guitar competitions in Europe; the Sevilla International Guitar Competition (2018) and the New Elizabethan Award (2022).
As a soloist he has given concerts across Europe and throughout the UK, performing recitals in venues such as the Wigmore Hall (London), Kings Place (London), Usher Hall (Edinburgh), Sage Gateshead, The Shoe Factory (Nicosia), City Halls (Glasgow), Holyrood Palace (Edinburgh), DIT Conservatory (Dublin), Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Leeds College of Music as well as performances in festivals such as the London Guitar Festival, St Magnus International Festival, Sul Tasto Paris, Festival de la Guitarra de Sevilla, Big Guitar Weekend, Festival Corde d’Autunno, Les Garrigues Memorial Emili Pujol, Bath Guitar Festival, Shrewsbury Guitar Festival, Plug New Music Festival and the Ullapool Guitar Festival.
He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra. He has also given multiple performances and interviews for BBC Radio Scotland’s Classics Unwrapped programme.
Winner of numerous awards and prizes, Sasha has achieved widespread recognition most notably as the winner of the Sevilla International Guitar Competition and the New Elizabethan Award. In 2015 he won 2nd Prize in both the Ivor Mairants Guitar Award and the Miguel Llobet International Guitar Competition in Barcelona, where he also received the Audience Award and Prize for the Best Performance of the Contemporary Work.
In 2014 he was selected by the International Guitar Foundation for its Young Artist Platform and in 2019 he was a Park Lane Group Artist; at present he is a Live Music Now Scotland artist.
Sasha is a passionate advocate of new music and has been regularly active in expanding the guitar repertoire through performing and commissioning new works. To date he has been involved in the premiere of more than thirty new works.
A committed Chamber musician, Sasha has worked with numerous musicians and ensembles, including collaborations with the Red Note Ensemble, guitarist Sean Shibe, trumpeter Mark O’Keeffe, guitarist Ian Watt, flautist Lee Holland and soprano Alison McNeill with whom he was a Chamber Music Scotland Resident Artist from 2015-2017.
Sasha is a guitar lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2023 he also completed a doctorate at the RCS and University of St Andrews focusing on performance of Schubert’s music on guitar.

This concert will take place at the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel, off University Avenue, G12 8QQ. Here is an access guide.
There is FREE PARKING anywhere on campus after 5.30pm, just drive in the Pearce Lodge gate entrance, which is next to the entrance to Kelvingrove Park at the bottom of University Avenue.
We take payment via Eventbrite only, no cash is handled for our public music events.
