The Glasgow Theatre Seminar is a recurring series of talks, discussions and other events hosted by Theatre Studies at the University of Glasgow. Drawing together researchers, theatre makers and other artists, the seminar is a public forum for exploring theatre and performance in the past, present and future, as well as the relationship between scholarship and practice.

Though the series covers a wide range of topics, the programme often reflects the work of Theatre Studies at Glasgow’s two research hubs: Dramaturgy as Critical Practice and Performance, Ecology and Heritage.

Upcoming Talks include:

Dr Sharanya Murali (Brunel University London), Thu 25 Feb 2021 “What’s in your mouth: Labours of ingestion in contemporary Indian performance art”

Dr Mojisola Adebayo (Queen Mary University of London), Thu 18 March 2021, title tbc.

Jay Murphy (independent writer and curator), Thu 25 March 2021, “Artaud’s ‘New Body’ and the Tarahumaras”

Oluchi Igili (University of Amsterdam), Thu 22 April 2021, “Creative Activism on the Nigerian Stage: Past, Present and (Possible) Future with Legislative Theatre”
