2nd Visualisation in Science Conference 2018

Date: Monday 03 December 2018
Time: 09:00 - 17:00
Venue: Kelvin Hall Conference Suite
Category: Conferences
Speaker: Multiple

Visualisation is a rapidly evolving area within science. It encompasses a range of techniques that allow us to represent complex scientific data in a visually meaningful way. It can include video, 2D images, 3D digital reconstruction, and animations using software packages to better represent scientific datasets. More recently this also means the use of virtual and augmented reality.

Following on from the success of last year’s event, we will be hosting the 2nd Annual Visualisation in Science Conference. This conference is open to all members of staff and students in the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences who are interested in visualisation techniques in science, or whose work relates to the work we do in CMVLS. It will be held on the 3rd December 2018, in the Kelvin Hall Conference Suite. The purpose of this conference is to start an open dialogue and showcase the digital work we are involved in across CMVLS. We are looking for students and colleagues involved in Visualisation in Science to consider submitting for a presentation. The call for abstracts is open now until 22nd October 2018. Abstracts should be emailed to mvls-vis2018@glasgow.ac.uk and the link to download the submission form is here! Please direct any enquiries to the same email address for abstract submissions.

The following is a guide as to what could be submitted, though is not exhaustive:

  • 3D and 4D modelling and animations
  • Virtual and augmented reality
  • Volumetric and 3D surface visualisation
  • Applied use of digital technologies in science and education
  • Serious games
  • Simulation in education and training
  • IT innovations applied to science
  • e-learning
  • Curriculum design and innovation using digital technologies
  • Pedagogical techniques to enhance the use of digital technology in education
  • Public engagement using digital techniques
