Statement of Policy and Ground Rules

It is the policy of the European Cubesat Symposium that all participants experience the true inclusive Glasgow welcome, free from discrimination or harassment in any form. All participants in the symposium and associated social events, including all speakers, attendees, volunteers and staff must not harass others in any form. All participants are expected to behave in a professional manner and in accordance with their employer's or university’s policies on appropriate workplace behaviour.

University of Glasgow is dedicated to equality of opportunity and treatment for all members, regardless of race, colour, nationality, ethnicity, religious beliefs, age, marital status, disabilities, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, or other protected characteristic. Harassment, sexual or otherwise, will not be tolerated at the University or at any symposium events.

Expected Behaviour

  • All attendees must be treated with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions
  • Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative
  • Communicate openly, critiquing ideas rather than individuals
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert venue personnel, including Local Organising Committee (LOC) members, if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress
  • Respect the rules and policies of any venue visited as part of the symposium

Report Concerns

If you are subject to or witness any of the behaviours outlined above, notify any member of the Local Organising Committee or University staff (including campus security) who will act on your concerns.  We are unable to act on anonymous complaints as we must verify the complainant’s identity to allow for proper review and follow up of any allegations.

Consequences

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately. Individuals engaging in prohibited behaviour, as well as those making allegations of harassment in bad faith, will be subject to disciplinary action. Such actions range from a verbal warning to ejection from the activity in question without refund of registration fees. University of Glasgow also reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future event.
