This course offers students the opportunity to explore aspects of professional practice relevant to those wishing to pursue a career in the arts sector. It seeks to support students to identify, reflect critically on, and develop skills to enhance opportunities in line with developing a career in the arts. This is achieved through critical inquiries into the different pathways into the sector as explored in a series of interactions with relevant industry professionals, and a project-based approach to developing specific skills and graduate attributes.

10 weekly in person seminar sessions (2hrs) as scheduled on MyCampus

Successful completion of Junior Honours in Theatre Studies, and by arrangement to visiting students or students of

other Honours programmes who qualify under the University's 25% regulation

Group Project Presentation and Q&A (20 mins) - 30%

Critical/Creative Writing (2500 words) - 40%

Article (1500 words) - 30%

This course aims to:

■ Explore and understand the different pathways into the cultural sector

■ Consider and establish post-university goals

■ Develop skills which are transferable to a variety of work patterns and places

By the end of this course students will be able to:

■ Work effectively to research, write / produce and present information for targeted audiences, creatively and engagingly

■ Analyse concepts of early career professional practice and critically engage with a variety of resources that explore different approaches

■ Reflect thoughtfully and critically on your personal, professional and creative development

■ Articulate your development of graduate attributes

■ Produce work that demonstrates your ability to analyse, organise and present information
