Students will collate an individual portfolio of work demonstrating their acquisition of professional skills and the course.

Components of the portfolio may include:

■ A written submission outlining the professional skills and experience required for their chosen career and a skills gap analysis to support a rationale for their choice of portfolio exercises.

■ Two exercises from a choice of employability areas such as CV and application; volunteer/work experience (written reflection); teamwork reflection (written reflection), science communication (blog writing/podcast/video); SMART goal (written reflection).

■ Peer review and self-review activities to support the development of the portfolio.

Are reassessment opportunities available for all summative assessments? Not applicable for Honours courses

Reassessments are normally available for all courses, except those which contribute to the Honours classification. For non Honours courses, students are offered reassessment in all or any of the components of assessment if the satisfactory (threshold) grade for the overall course is not achieved at the first attempt. This is normally grade D3 for undergraduate students and grade C3 for postgraduate students. Exceptionally it may not be possible to offer reassessment of some coursework items, in which case the mark achieved at the first attempt will be counted towards the final course grade. Any such exceptions for this course are described below.

Course Aims

To inform students about the career and study opportunities available for graduates with a psychology degree.

To provide the opportunity for students to assess and reflect on their existing skills and experiences across the programme to date, and to support students in identifying further development needs.  To support students to present their employability skills in the appropriate format.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

■ Demonstrate an understanding of the range of professional skills and experience required for graduate careers.

■ Identify the career options and/or post graduate study opportunities available to psychology graduates.

■ Develop and reflect on their professional skills and employability.

■ Present their professional skills in appropriate forms such as CV and application/ written reflection/blog/podcast.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment
