2,500 word assignment examining a current clinical issue.

Course Aims

This course aims to enable students to link research to the development of evidence based practice and the role of robust evidence in informing clinical practice.

 

The use and evolution of guidelines and protocols and the varieties of levels of evidence available will be explored.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

■ Critically discuss the concept of evidence based practice and levels of evidence

■ Synthesise and critically evaluate current research evidence

■ Critically review the development of clinical guidelines and protocols and mechanisms for evaluating their impact on practice in the improvement of patient care

■ Critically discuss approaches to dissemination and implementation of evidence

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
