Short Description

This course will introduce students to the impact of technological trends on entrepreneurship and will equip them with tools to form digital entrepreneurship strategies.

Timetable

Course is delivered over 2 weeks, comprising of 12 hours of lectures and 4 hours of practical classes and workshops.

Course Aims

The course aims to introduce participants to cutting-edge technological developments (e.g. blockchain, 5g, p2p). Students will be exposed to emerging digital enterprise processes and have an opportunity to learn about and apply relevant tools and techniques. Students will learn a range of practical skills around technology forecasting, data synthesis and communicating complex ideas.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. Explain and evaluate how technological trends are generating new entrepreneurial opportunities in the context of high-growth start-up ventures.

2. Interpret and apply various forms of user information, market data and technological information to develop hypothesised venture ideas.

3. Design a business model using tools provided in class to achieve a product-market fit for the venture idea.

4. Evaluate methods for testing and validating value propositions and apply a variety of methods to gauge user traction.

5. Work collaboratively in a group to produce a combined output, by liaising with other class members, allocating tasks and co-ordinating group meetings.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
