Assessment

The student is provided with a project plan template and a case study, and the assessment is to complete a project plan with the intention of submitting this to a project board. This is a practical assessment that aligns well with the theoretical information and the relevant case studies that are provided throughout the course.

Course Aims

To familiarize the student with the management methods and techniques most commonly used to plan, organize and control projects.

 

Two key attributes of project management are critical thinking and effective decision making. These are transferable skills which are taught throughout the course using case studies and practical examples of recent relevant projects managed by the course lecturer.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. Identify the stages of the project lifecycle and evaluate the value of the tools and techniques that are used in each stage.

2. Develop and evaluate project plans on the basis of timing, cost and risk.

3. Critically evaluate the project management process as it is applied within the workplace.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
