Short Description
Students will be supervised and guided to produce a high-quality dissertation in a subject area, question or area of practice in the course specification. Students will be expected to perform at least one literature search and organise and assimilate the relevant literature and justify its inclusion or exclusion. Finally, students will be expected to critically appraise the relevant literature to produce a narrative systematic review.
Timetable
Students will have online live meetings supervisors as and when required by mutual agreement and be in contact regularly by email.

Assessment
1: A 7000 word dissertation on any topic related to Clinical Anaesthesia (90%)
2. An oral presentation of your dissertation (10%)
Course Aims
The aim of this course is to develop the students' ability to critically apply state-of-the-art knowledge of aspects of Clinical Anaesthesia. The standard of the written work produced at the end this course is expected of a quality that could be published in a peer reviewed journal.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Synthesise and critically evaluate the evidence base in relation to a topic in Anaesthesia
2. Demonstrate intellectual independence
3. Communicate effectively with their peers and supervisors using appropriate methods
4. Demonstrate originality and creativity in the application of knowledge in the practice of Anaesthesia
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
