Short Description

This course develops the skills required to design, plan, and manage digital research projects in the humanities. Students learn how to scope research questions, structure collaborative work, manage resources and data, and critically assess sustainability and impact. Drawing on real-world case studies and professional practice, the course equips students to develop project proposals and to reflect on the challenges and ethics of interdisciplinary digital work.

15-minute Group Presentation 50%

2500-word Individual Project Proposal for Digital Humanities Project 50%

Course Aims

This course aims to:

■ Support the development of Digital Humanities project design and management skills including goal setting, timeline design, budgeting, documentation, and evaluation.

■ Enable critical analysis of existing DH projects in relation to sustainability, collaboration, inclusion, and ethics.

■ Foster confidence in writing proposals and working with real-world institutional or cultural stakeholders.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

■ Describe the stages and challenges of a digital research project lifecycle.

■ Explain the principles of effective project planning, management and collaboration in Digital Humanities projects.

■ Design a feasible, ethically grounded DH project plan using appropriate tools and frameworks.

■ Collaborate on the creation or critique of a DH project based on good-practice guidelines.

■ Critically evaluate digital research projects, identifying strengths, risks, and ethical dimensions.

■ Produce professional documentation that communicates project goals, methodologies, and outcomes clearly to diverse audiences.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
