Short Description

The main focus of this course is to enable participants to lead a small-scale collaborative project successfully, in accordance with sound educational values, using appropriate knowledge and understanding and professional abilities.

Timetable

Face-to-face and live online components which take place on occasional Saturday or twilight (weekday) sessions throughout semester 1.

Assessment

Assessment will consist of two components:

1. A project proposal which outlines a plan for developing a small-scale project with a clear rationale, clear aims, implementation strategies, success criteria and detail the proposed monitoring and evaluative strategies.

(1000 words).

2. A reflective project report that includes

2. a) A discussion of how the project was implemented, monitored and evaluated along with supportive illustrative evidence and an explanatory narrative.

2. b) A reflective discussion on the development of the participant's developed knowledge and understanding of leadership and a review of the participant's leadership skills.

(5000 words).

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, students will be able to:

■ outline the nature of teacher leadership in project management;

■ define the nature teacher leadership in a change context;

■ articulate the importance of motivation and teacher development;

■ describe the role of critical reflection and professional development in leadership;

■ articulate the significance of leadership in developing initiatives.
