This course supports students in consolidating practical teaching skills through university-based learning and an extended primary school placement. Students will assume progressive responsibility for planning, implementing, and assessing inclusive learning opportunities across the curriculum to best meet learners' diverse needs.  Students will demonstrate competence in all aspects of the GTCS Standards for Provisional Registration.

50%: Teacher report demonstrating competence in meeting the GTCS Standards for Provisional Registration.

50% Portfolio containing observations and reflections that demonstrate an reflective practice and an understanding of learning from the course.

This course aims to enable student teachers to consolidate and demonstrate a baseline of professional competence by drawing together theory and practice from university learning by planning, implementing and assessing inclusive learning experiences across the curriculum during an extended school placement. Students will critically reflect on their practice and exercise professional judgment to meet all aspects of the GTCS Standards for Provisional Registration.

By the end of this course students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate independent planning, implementation and evaluation of educationally effective and fully coherent cycles of learning and in all areas of the curriculum to support progression.

2. Critically reflect on and analyse their teaching practice making use of enquiry skills to inform professional decision-making and enhance pupil learning outcomes.

3. Demonstrate the professional values, professional knowledge and understanding and professional skills and abilities necessary for the Standards for Provisional Registration in Scotland
