Short Description

Rooted within the context of Learning for Sustainability, this course examines the interconnected global and glocal educational contexts within which children learn. By deepening their explorations of relational, environmental and socio-cultural situations of learning, students will strengthen their critical understanding of sociological and developmental theories of education, inclusive and place-responsive pedagogies, and conceptions of participatory and lived citizenship.

Course Aims

This course aims to:

Support students to build and strengthen their knowledge of the global relational, environmental, and socio-cultural contexts of learning communities.

Support students to develop, deepen and sustain inclusive and courageous dispositions as educators.

Support students in building the skills of enquiry, communication, and collaboration in understanding the global contexts of learning communities.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. Demonstrate their developing critical knowledge and understanding of the global relational, environmental, and socio-cultural contexts of learning communities.

2. Critically evaluate the dispositions of educators in creating inclusive learning communities.

3. Apply the skills of enquiry, communication, and collaboration in understanding the global contexts of learning communities.
