Short Description
Rooted within the context of Learning for Sustainability, this course examines the interconnected local, national, and global educational contexts within which children learn. By engaging in explorations of relational, environmental and socio-cultural situations of learning, students will strengthen their critical understanding of sociological and developmental theories of education, inclusive and place-responsive pedagogies, and conceptions of participatory and lived citizenship.

Assessment
Assessment 1 (70%): Project output on the interconnected relational, environmental and/or socio-cultural context of learning communities (1400 words equivalent).
Assessment 2 (30%): Oral presentation to reflect/evaluate impact of dispositions (600 words equivalent).
Course Aims
This course aims to:
Support students to build and strengthen their knowledge of the interconnected relational, environmental, and socio-cultural contexts of learning communities.
Support students to apply their developing knowledge of compassionate, caring, and reflective dispositions to aid their understanding of educational communities and contexts
Support students in building the skills of listening, communication, and collaboration in understanding the interconnected contexts of learning communities.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate their developing knowledge of the interconnected relational, environmental, and socio-cultural contexts of the learning communities.
2. Reflect on educational communities and contexts and evaluate the impact of dispositions on professional practice
3. Demonstrate their development of the skills of listening, communication, and collaboration in understanding the interconnected contexts of learning communities.
