Part 2 of the Honours Enquiry in Health and Social Policy for Full-Time Students
Seminar group(s) meet weekly.
In addition one-to-one supervisions with the student's dissertation supervisor will normally be held weekly. The regularity and length of each meeting may be adjusted as appropriate.

None of the following assessments in this Honours course are suitable for reassessment purposes:
Three assessments as follows:
1: Dissertation (15000 words) (70%);
2: Journal Article (3000-4000 words) (20%);
3: Viva Examination (30 minutes) (10%).
In accordance with the University's Code of Assessment reassessments are normally set for all courses which do not contribute to the honours classifications. For non honours courses, students are offered reassessment in all or any of the components of assessment if the satisfactory (threshold) grade for the overall course is not achieved at the first attempt. This is normally grade D3 for undergraduate students, and grade C3 for postgraduate students. Exceptionally it may not be possible to offer reassessment of some coursework items, in which case the mark achieved at the first attempt will be counted towards the final course grade. Any such exceptions are listed below in this box.

This Course aims to:
build on principles which underpin the first three years of study in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, including the School's emphasis on interdisciplinarity and selected subject specialism, where appropriate or desirable within the overarching interdisciplinary ethos;
promote an extensive or deep level of engagement with scholarly, critical or theoretical arguments as relevant to the student's chosen area of enquiry, by means of independently conducted study, peer and/or supervisor assisted collaborative discussion, formative work on the main assignments, and in Part 2 the completion of a dissertation combined with other assessments.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
demonstrate competence in the research process and research skills;
demonstrate the acquisition of detailed knowledge of an agreed area of enquiry as pursued through the production of a dissertation;
explain the extent to which their work has been informed by an interdisciplinary approach;
produce a substantive dissertation that could enable further research and the production of a short journal article;
articulate the more important or otherwise selected elements of the dissertation in the form of an article that could be deemed suitable for submission to a specific scholarly journal;
condense and communicate complex data or arguments to a wider audience;
demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the content, and be able to engage in a critical discussion, of the dissertation.
In addition, as part of the formative processes embedded in this Course, students will be expected to develop good practices in group and collaborative working with their fellow students, mainly through their participation in seminars and in peer review/critical friend activities.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
