During these Masters workshops, students will develop a portfolio of original creative work, building critical and creative skills that they will apply to giving feedback to their peers, and to editing and revising their own writing. The course gives students exposure to a variety of genres and creative approaches through tutor and peer group exchange, and provides students with a live readership for their own work.
20 x 2 hour seminars as scheduled on MyCampus.
Requirements of Entry
Standard entry to Masters at College level.
■ 2 x samples of written critical feedback given to peers (equivalent to 1000 words) - 20%
■ 3000 word reflective essay - 30%
■ 3000 word proposal describing final Creative Writing Portfolio - 30%
■ 2000 word reflective essay - 20%
This course aims to:
■ Enable students to explore a variety of genres and creative and critical approaches through peer group exchange;
■ Enable students to engage in the critical assessment, editing and revising of their own and others' writing;
■ Provide students with live readership for their own work;
■ Support students creatively and critically to develop a portfolio of original work.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Create and analyse individual literary forms;
■ Apply an advanced understanding of elements of craft, diction, syntax, formatting, etc. to their own writing;
■ Apply skills of critical engagement to creative work and critically analyse the work of their fellow students;
■ Communicate feedback clearly and usefully.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
