Short Description

The course will enable students to immerse themselves in emerging and specialist topics in Human-Computer Interaction as well as offering the opportunity to develop critical thinking, reading and reviewing skills. The course will expect students to comprehend and lead discussion on specialist topics in Human-Computer Interaction as well as propose directions for future consideration.

Course Aims

To encourage the acquisition of analytical, scientific and communication skills around emerging and specialist topics in HCI as well as to afford students the opportunity to refine their critical and scientific writing and presentation skills.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate their critical reading skills by preparing a critical review of a research paper

2. Exhibit understanding of research in their specialist area by preparing a research proposal

3. Demonstrate the ability to communicate research by presenting a poster
