Are reassessment opportunities available for all summative assessments? No
Reassessments are normally available for all courses, except those which contribute to the Honours classification. Where, exceptionally, reassessment on Honours courses is required to satisfy professional/accreditation requirements, only the overall course grade achieved at the first attempt will contribute to the Honours classification. For non-Honours courses, students are offered reassessment in all or any of the components of assessment if the satisfactory (threshold) grade for the overall course is not achieved at the first attempt. This is normally grade D3 for undergraduate students and grade C3 for postgraduate students. Exceptionally it may not be possible to offer reassessment of some coursework items, in which case the mark achieved at the first attempt will be counted towards the final course grade. Any such exceptions for this course are described below.
Mentor's report cannot be reassessed.
Course Aims
The course aims to give students practical experience in carrying out industrial biotechnology in a workplace environment. During the training the students will undertake training at Biocon Academy for the "Certificate Programme in Faculty Development". In addition, the students will gain experiential learning through exposure and training within the Biocon manufacturing facility, quality control and R&D labs.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Develop skills to relate scientific principles to the practices of industry.
2. Critically analyse the latest technologies and processes being deployed by industry.
3. Evaluate the use of equipment at manufacturing facilities.
4. Critically evaluate international regulations for quality, research and development.
5. Self-evaluate their own learning and acquired knowledge and skills gained through the training
6. Present in written form an assessment of the training and produce a report to a professional standard in appropriate scientific style.
7. Plan and manage time effectively by prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
