Assessment
The course will be assessed by in-course assessment only. This will consist of 4 components: a practical skills assessment (25%), a written assignment (25%), an oral presentation (25%) and a portfolio (25%).
Are reassessment opportunities available for all summative assessments? Not applicable for Honours courses
Reassessments are normally available for all courses, except those which contribute to the Honours classification. Where, exceptionally, reassessment on Honours courses is required to satisfy professional/accreditation requirements, only the overall course grade achieved at the first attempt will contribute to the Honours classification. For non-Honours courses, students are offered reassessment in all or any of the components of assessment if the satisfactory (threshold) grade for the overall course is not achieved at the first attempt. This is normally grade D3 for undergraduate students and grade C3 for postgraduate students. Exceptionally it may not be possible to offer reassessment of some coursework items, in which case the mark achieved at the first attempt will be counted towards the final course grade. Any such exceptions for this course are described below.
Course Aims
The aim of this course is to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to provide evidence-based, effective support to athletes and clients. Students will develop the practical competencies that are essential for working sucessfully within sport and exercise settings. The course also emphasises the development of problem-solving abilities within these diverse and dynamic environments, while encouraging students to critically reflect on their personal and professional development.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Demonstrate a range of practical skills and techniques that allow them to deliver effective support in sport and exercise environments.
■ Critically evaluate current literature and deliver evidence-based support, which is sensitive to the needs of athletes and clients within a range of sport and exercise contexts.
■ Analyse and address real-world challenges within the dynamic and complex landscape of sport and exercise.
■ Reflect on and evaluate their own practice, with a focus on both personal and professional growth.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
