Short Description

Accelerated Level 5 Maths provides a solid grounding in the key areas of mathematics required for academic and career progression for pre-undergraduate learners.

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to develop students' core mathematical knowledge and reasoning skills, to enable progression to degree programmes requiring SCQF Level 5 Maths, or to more advanced mathematical study.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

• Select and apply skills in numeracy, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics

• Employ mathematical reasoning skills to interpret information, select appropriate strategies to solve problems, and communicate solutions

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

In order to obtain equivalence between this course and National 5 Maths, students must:

■ Submit 100% of the components of the course's summative assessment

■ Achieve a minimum aggregated grade of C3 to achieve a pass.
