Building a Brighter Future
Each year, 720,000 people take their own lives. With the support of our donors, the Suicidal Behavior Research Laboratory (SBRL), housed in the Clarice Pears Building, is working to tackle this devastating public health issue.
The Mindstep Foundation, a suidice prevention charity that funds suicide awareness and research, has been supporting the vital work of the SBRL for four years. "Mental health and suicide prevention research is chronically underfunded," says Professor Rory O'Connor, Chair in Health Psychology. "In recent years there has been an increase in funding but there are still many gaps. Donations like those provided to us by the Mindstep Foundation have been invaluable in helping us tackle the complex questions around suicide and suicide prevention."
In this short film, founders of the Mindstep Foundation, Tracey and Georgia Davies share how the Foundation began and why they chose to partner with UofG in their mission.
