1451 Society london afternoon tea

We were delighted to be back in London in September when over 40 1451 Society members, alumni and friends interested in leaving a gift in their Will joined us for afternoon tea at the Caledonian Club. The Chancellor, Dame Katherine Grainger joined us, and Professor Martin Hendry, Clerk of Senate and Vice-Principal, shared his presentation on the fascinating life of Lord Kelvin, in this year when the University is proud to be marking 200 years since his birth.

Follow the link below to read an article Professor Hendry has specially written for us based on his talk.

To Measure is to Know, by Professor Martin Hendry

1451 Society annual Glasgow lunch 2025

We are hoping to host the biggest 1451 Society event yet in the Hunter Halls, Gilbert Scott Building on Thursday 3 April 2025 - please save the date!  This will be the last 1451 Society event hosted by the University's current Principal & Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, who will be finishing in post in September 2025 and we hope to welcome many supporters back to campus to mark this significant occasion.

If you are already a member of the 1451 Society do look out for your invitation in the New Year.

We are delighted to also extend the invitation to any of our alumni and friends who have enquired about gifts in Wills in the past - please register your interest by emailing Legacies@glasgow.ac.uk, to receive your invitation.

On the road

We’re also keeping in touch with our international supporters and our team will soon be on their way to Florida. We also plan to be in Toronto, Boston, Chicago and New York in February next year.

We would love to hear from you if you are in these areas. Please contact the team to arrange a visit by email at globalphilanthropy@glasgow.ac.uk.

Our legacy team are often travelling in the UK and might get in touch to say hello and offer a catch up over coffee or if you are visiting Glasgow do get in touch – we'd love to welcome you back to campus.
