Vector Photonics celebrates milestone demonstration of its laser technology

A spin-out company from UofG, Vector Photonics, pioneering the use of photonic crystal surface emitting lasers (PCSEL) in secure communications, transmitted data across the River Clyde from the Glasgow Science Centre to the Clydeside Distillery, using a system designedand built by Fraunhofer UK. The successful public demonstration was carried out on 31 March 2026, and has been hailed as a major step forward for the technology.
