Working with Boulder Non linear Systems, the Optics Group have commercialised their Optical Tweezers technology. 'The Cube' was launched at the world's largest optics conference (held in San Francisco each year).

Optical Tweezers use tightly focused laser beams to trap and move micron-sized particles such as bacterial and cells. The addition of a spatial light modulator allows man such particles to be controlled simultaneously – all controlled with an iPad.
