Research studies by students involving humans

As part of their educational qualification, University of Glasgow students may be required to conduct a research project.  In many cases, this will involve humans or human tissue and is, therefore, subject to the same regulations as described in other sections of these web pages, depending on the nature of the research being undertaken.

To help navigate the process of obtaining the necessary approvals before the research can begin, please refer to the flowchart detailing the stages involved.

Student research studies, like all others, must have adequate insurance in place before starting.  Please refer to the Insurance and Indemnity section for details of how to confirm adequate coverage is in place.

To conduct research within the NHS, students may require a Research Passport.  Please note that advice on whether or not a Research Passport is required must be obtained from the Research Regulation and Compliance Office before applying.
