MR CoilTech
Company Growth in Advanced Imaging
The Living Laboratory’s Coil Development project, which is developing new radiofrequency (RF) coils for use in ultra-high-resolution 7 Tesla (7T) MRI, has played a pivotal role in establishing Glasgow-based MR CoilTech as a global leader in the development of next-generation MRI technologies.
The project directly supported the design and realisation of MR CoilTech’s first commercial product, the head coil, and laid the foundation for the next generation of imaging solutions, including a Neurovascular (Head & Neck), Pelvic, and Spinal Coil, which are currently in development.
The Coil Development project has achieved several significant milestones:
- Successfully completed the design and manufacture pathway for multiple coil designs.
- Secured a major EPSRC programme grant to drive continued coil innovation.
- Established strong links with the University of Glasgow and other institutions to integrate RF coils into fundamental and translational research.
- Enabled expansion of MR CoilTech into new markets, enabling both research and clinical applications (post-CE marking).
- Secured funding for the NEUROQUANT project, a large-scale collaboration with UK and Swiss universities and organisations funded by Innovate UK and InnoSuisse.
Looking Ahead
Building on its success, MR CoilTech is now set to scale its international presence by leveraging strategic global marketing agreements with Siemens and SKOPE (part of the Canon Group).
