School and Family Resources
At the Living Laboratory, we are committed to empowering young people, schools, parents and carers with the knowledge and opportunities to engage in healthcare innovation.
Our goal is to inspire people to explore careers in STEM and take an active role in shaping the future of healthcare. By raising awareness of diverse career paths and connecting students with learning and skills development opportunities, we aim to support them in turning their aspirations into real possibilities.
"At the Living Laboratory, we’ve seen the incredible impact of connecting young people with the dynamic world of STEM and healthcare innovation. By offering students real-world experiences and introducing them to lesser-known career paths, we’re helping them discover what’s possible and build the skills to get there.
"We’re proud to be working with partners like the NHS, industry leaders such as Canon and MR CoilTech, and university experts to shine a light on the many roles that drive healthcare innovation. Each of these careers play a vital part in improving patient care, bringing together diverse skills, knowledge, and perspectives.”

STEM Futures Programme
Work Readiness Workshop Coming October 2025
The Living Laboratory is proud to partner with Glasgow Science Centre’s STEM Futures programme, which offers workshops for S3-S6 pupils to ignite an interest in STEM and help them build meaningful connections to the world of work.
Our collaboration with STEM Futures has led to multiple precision medicine workshops for high school students in Govan and Glasgow. These workshops have introduced pupils to essential lab skills, key precision medicine terminology, and potential career pathways in this exciting field.
Empowering Educators
S5 Biology Teachers
The Living Laboratory is currently developing a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course for S5 Biology teachers.
The course aims to update current knowledge on pharmacogenetics, pharmacogenomics and precision medicine within the Scottish high school curriculum, providing teachers with up-to-date facts, real-life examples and activities to enhance their teaching.
Our first CPD event is taking place on 22 May and is applicable for:
- Higher Biology
Unit 1 “DNA and the Genome”, part 8 “Genomic sequencing”. - Higher Human Biology
Unit 1 “Human Cells”, part 5 “Human Genomics".
Further Education (FE) Lecturers
CPD eLearning Materials coming soon
We are collaborating with Glasgow Clyde College to develop Continuing Professional Development (CPD) materials for Further Education (FE) lecturers. These resources are designed to enhance teaching practices and are currently being rolled out nationwide through WorldSkills UK.
By contributing our expertise, we are helping to equip educators with the tools they need to inspire and support the next generation of skilled professionals in precision medicine and healthcare innovation.
