Alumnus Dr R. Barr awarded Member of the Order of Canada

Dr Ronald Barr was awarded for outstanding achievement and service to the nation of Canada.

Alumnus, Dr Ronald Duncan Barr, C.M. (MBChB 1966 & MD 1977) has been awarded Member of the Order of Canada for outstanding achievement and service to the nation of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.

Dr Barr, Professor Emeritus of paediatrics, pathology and medicine, and former Chief of Haematology-Oncology at McMaster Children’s Hospital, is being recognized for his contributions in the global field of Paediatric Oncology.

Dr Barr was the recipient of the 2009 O. Harold Warwick Prize from the Canadian Cancer Society and has published more than 250 scientific articles and has written and contributed to several books on cancer in childhood and adolescence.
