Short Description
The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive overview of web application development. It will provide students with the skills to design and develop distributed web applications in a disciplined manner, using a range of Web technologies. It will also provide skills in the use of a number of professional tools and methods such as shared vesion control systems, virtual environments and collaborating in small software development teams

Course Aims
To provide an overview of the tools and technologies used in web development;
To promote the disciplined design and development of web applications in teams;
To develop an understanding of the complexity of building distributed applications;
To develop the ability to implement and deploy a web application.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Describe and understand the opportunities and challenges involved in developing web applications and working in a distributed environment;
2. Use a variety of development tools and web technologies;
3. Explain and describe the different high level system architectures common to the web;
4. Understand and interpret the design and specifications of a web application;
5. Demonstrate proficiency with modern development workflows by utilising version control, virtual environments, and package managers to build web apps;
6. Collaborate effectively using Git and modern version control workflows to develop, and deploy a full-stack web application as a team.
