I completed my Microbiology BSc (Hons) at the University of Glasgow in 1991, then joined as a staff member working as a Technician under the supervision of Dr Harry Birkbeck.

 

I am married and have a daughter, Sylvia (20), a son, Fergus (18) and our first son Euan, who would have been 22 but we lost him to pneumococcal meningitis just after his 1st birthday.

 

Outside of work I enjoy knitting badly, baking, gardening, cycling, gym, reading, and long walks in countryside with my dog.
