Glasgow University Archaeology Festival 9-27 August 2021

Published: 28 June 2021

This event will celebrate the unique Glasgow way by bringing together past and present staff and students of the Archaeology Department in an online festival.

Archaeology has been taught at the University of Glasgow for over half a century, and during that time thousands of students and scores of archaeologists have been part of the journey. This has always been a distinctive experience - the Glasgow way of doing archaeology.

In summer 2021, we will celebrate this unique Glasgow way by bringing together past and present staff and students of the Archaeology Department to hold an online festival of events that will be free and open to all. Bringing together our community in this way will be our response to the pandemic and give us the opportunity to reconnect as a community.

Due to so many submissions and ideas from our present and current staff and students, we have decided to move the Festival to later in the summer, between 9th and 20th August. The website for the conference is now live and the final programme and booking details for all the events (which are free) will be online by the 1st August.

In the meantime, if you have any photos, documents or video relating to your time as a student in the Archaeology Department then please sent them to kenny.brophy@glasgow.ac.uk to be included in our online gallery, or share on social media using hashtag #GlasgowArchFest

The Festival will consist of Live Events on zoom which you can sign up to for free, pre-recorded talks, guest blog posts and information about the history of the archaeology department at Glasgow Uni.

For all the following events, please check the Festival website!
