Biography

I am a Research Assistant in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow. My research sits at the intersection of distributed systems and machine learning, with a focus on making federated and edge learning dependable under real-world conditions such as mobility, intermittent connectivity, heterogeneous devices and data, and adversarial behaviour.

I recently completed my PhD in Computing Science at the University of Glasgow (thesis: “RADEL: Resilient and Adaptive Distributed Edge Learning in dynamic environments”). Alongside research publications in leading venues, I have extensive experience building end-to-end research demonstrators and platform infrastructure for stakeholder-facing delivery.

Research interests

My work aims to bridge methodological advances in distributed learning with the practical engineering required for deployment. Key interests include:

  • Federated learning under mobility and outages: client selection and orchestration when participation and connectivity vary over time.

  • Robust and trustworthy federated learning: resilience to adversarial or unreliable participants, robust aggregation and evaluation under threat models.

  • Model and predictive resilience in edge systems: maintaining stable predictive performance under non-stationary data, resource variability, and operational disruptions.

  • Deployment-oriented AI systems: end-to-end architectures for reliable inference and interactive experiences, including scalable data pipelines, reproducible services, and responsible evaluation.

  • Application-driven research: applying dependable distributed learning to stakeholder-facing domains such as digital cultural heritage and environmental monitoring.

Teaching

At the University of Glasgow, I have contributed to teaching as a Graduate Teaching Assistant since 2022, supporting tutorials and marking for COMPSCI4013 Database Systems (Honours) and COMPSCI5076 Database Theory and Analytics (MSc), and delivering guest lectures when needed.

I was also invited as a Guest Lecturer for an Advanced Machine Learning course at the University of Thessaly, delivering three online lectures (Nov–Dec 2025).
