Welcome to Dr Sam Neilson who has joined SCMH as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer.
"After graduating from Manchester medical school in 2011, I started training in Leeds and have migrated North via Tasmania. Currently, a Clinical pharmacology trainee in the West of Scotland with special interest in Stroke, particularly imaging, clinical trials and cardiovascular health. I recently completed a PhD supervised by Professor Muir investigating MRI in CADASIL and small vessel disease.
We have recently received grants from the RS Macdonald charitable trust to investigate use of artificial intelligence to predict AF after stroke, the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde research endowment to investigate point of care NT-pro BNP and wearable ECG patches for AF screening after TIA, in addition to an ongoing study of phase contrast MRI in CADASIL funded by the Scottish Neurological research fund.
Through my honorary clinical lectureship, I hope to contribute to the research team and develop my own portfolio. I aim to complete my stroke training year and progress to be a Stroke consultant with a research interest."
