Microgravity tests advance space manufacturing

ESA parabolic flights validated key in-space manufacturing hardware, strengthening confidence in microgravity operation and future orbital fabrication
BBC News covered our recent microgravity testing campaign, where we took mission-enabling in-space manufacturing hardware onto ESA parabolic flights (“vomit comet”) to validate performance in weightlessness.
Across multiple parabolas, we verified repeatability and gathered engineering data (including system dynamics and power consumption) to optimise the technology for future in-orbit demonstrations.
This is part of a wider push to reduce launch constraints by enabling manufacturing and repair directly in space, with a focus on safe, sustainable deployment pathways.
