GSGB
Professor Heather Wardle leads the Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB), the most comprehensive study of gambling behaviours ever conducted in the UK. Under her leadership, the GSGB has transformed how gambling is measured nationally-moving from infrequent, small-scale surveys to a continuous, large-scale data collection model. This new approach provides timely, robust, and representative evidence on gambling participation and harms, enabling policymakers, regulators, and public health bodies to design more effective, evidence-based interventions. Wardle’s leadership ensures the survey remains independent of industry influence and firmly rooted in a public-health perspective.
