Lived Experience Network

Gambling Research Glasgow places lived experience at the centre of its work on gambling harms.

As part of the NIHR-funded Addictions Policy Research Unit, we champion co-production and inclusive practice. We actively consult with Addictions Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (APPIE) network – a national network of people with lived experience of addiction developed as part of the Addictions Policy Research Unit – aligning with its eight principles for meaningful involvement.

APPIE’s Eight Principles for Involvement:

  1. Nothing about us without us
  2. Early involvement
  3. Involvement throughout
  4. Support and capacity building
  5. Recognition and reward
  6. Accessibility and inclusion
  7. Transparency
  8. Evaluation and feedback

These principles guide our governance and practice, including the co-development of inclusive language guidelines that promote respectful, person-first communication in all aspects of our work
