The Geotechnics research cluster addresses global challenges in energy, sustainable construction, and infrastructure resilience through innovative research into the behaviour of soil and rock.
Our work delivers both practical geotechnical solutions and fundamental insights into subsurface processes, with current research spanning unsaturated soil mechanics, slope stability and capillary barriers, offshore geotechnics, geothermal energy, rock mechanics, barrier design, and dam safety.
We specialise in advanced laboratory and field testing, numerical and constitutive modelling, and real-world monitoring.
