Skills Programme
The FRIL Skills Academy strengthens the talent pipeline for Scotland’s Financial and Professional Services sector and its rapidly growing FinTech ecosystem. Launched by the University of Glasgow and University of Strathclyde in collaboration with FinTech Scotland, the Academy delivers demand-led micro-credentials, short courses and executive education. These are shaped by industry demands and trends, as drawn together through continual interactions among financial services, fintechs and regulators throughout the FRIL programme.
Designed to address skills gaps in areas such as AI, data quality and regulatory compliance, and ESG leadership, programmes are co-created with industry partners and delivered through a flexible virtual platform , supporting global access. The Skills Academy supports lifelong learning, career progression and industry collaboration, equipping professionals to drive meaningful organisational impact.

This course provides a practical approach to understanding and applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Regulatory Technology (RegTech) in financial compliance and risk management. It introduces the fundamentals of AI capabilities, the evolution of RegTech, and the regulatory and governance frameworks that shape compliance across banking, FinTechs, and the wider financial ecosystem.
