This festival is for everyone!
The Centre for Data Science & AI is delighted to announce an exciting three-day celebration, with a vision of bringing together vibrant research and creative practice across the fields of data science and artificial intelligence. With a blend of interactive workshops, stimulating talks, creative performances, installations, provocative debates, and more, the festival invites us to explore where we are—and where we could go next.
The Data and AI Festival will showcase current and future research happening at the University, but will also invite discussion, debate and provocation whilst providing space for developing potential new research collaborations, and exploring how the Centre can support that development.
Submissions will focus on the following themes:

⮚ AI for Smart Technologies
⮚ AI for Social Purpose
⮚ AI for Creativity
⮚ AI Governance, Risk, and Responsible Innovation,
⮚ AI for Infrastructure and Foundations
⮚ AI for Discovery
Why should I take part?
The festival is intended to be for everyone - those who are already working with AI and data science, those who are interested in working with Data Science and AI and those who are skeptical about these evolving fields and how they embed into a higher education context.
This is a unique and valuable opportunity to share your work with a wider audience, build interdisciplinary collaborations, and contribute to a growing community committed to responsible innovation. The festival provides a dynamic platform to showcase research, exchange ideas with experts from different sectors, and explore real-world applications of data and AI. By participating, you can help shape conversations around emerging technologies while forging new connections that can lead to future partnerships and impact.
What you can apply for
Tabletop Displays
Interactive Tabletop Research Displays will be arranged in the Atrium of the ARC each day, where you can showcase your work creatively.
We also have access to room 237a; if you have audio or visual components of your display that would require an enclosed space or best be separated from a large common area, or if you just have a really creative idea that exceeds the scope of a tabletop only, please indicate in your application that you are applying to present in this space.

Exhibition
The Data Science and AI Images Exhibition will feature large, high quality printed images of research involving data science and/or AI, which will be displayed at the entrance to the Festival in the ARC Exhibition space for the duration of the event, and later hung in the ARC.
We encourage you to take or produce a unique and creative image that showcases your research!

Other creative ideas
In addition to the tabletop displays and exhibitions, we encourage you to apply for other activities, like panel discussions, workshops, debates, etc., here.
Importantly, we’re aware that you will have even more creative ways of engaging that we haven’t thought of, and we encourage you to apply with your own unique ideas that may fall outside of these categories here.
